While this is FIFA looking better than ever before

Likewise, FIFA 16 plays very well. The ball physics, long the thing that makes and breaks individual entries in the series, behave well, particularly during rainy day games, where it skips across the pitch in sometimes unpredictable fashion. The ball’s behavior has also made it a bit tougher to dispossess computer players; in last year’s edition, it was extremely easy to simply bump lightly into a dribbler and come away with the ball. Combined with some clearly improved on the ball AI, the game both feels and plays better without ramping up too much in difficulty. The lack of cosmetic changes has allowed EA Canada to focus all its attention on Fifa Coins what happens on the pitch. It looks familiar, but FIFA 1’ feels like a totally different game. Player movement is almost unbelievably fluid, the ball isn’t magnetized to their feet, all players make mistakes and are actually hindered by the weather.

While this is FIFA looking better than ever before, it's accompanied by more glitches than usual. There are a lot of stray arms that go through another player’s head, breaking the illusion, and just last night I played a game where the screen consistently flashed blue during corners, blinding me at the crucial moment. The only overbearing disappointment is the lack of care taken with the commentary team. FIFA always delivers a stunning soundtrack, and it’s done it again, but the commentary hasn’t been seriously updated in a great many years, and is clearly lagging a generation behind the gameplay and visuals.

For the first time in years I found that the commentary track was more fluid and organic, which is quite a feat considering how difficult and challenging it can be to add a commentary track which doesn’t feel old, weathered and repetitive after hours and hours of playing the game. The animations add a heightened sense of realism, bringing the game to life more fully than ever before. For fans of the MLS, the kits featured in Fifa 17 Coins boast the new MLS logo that will be coming on all kits for next year’s season. MLS partnered with the FIFA 16 developers to launch the new logo. Considering how it often feels like MLS is given a little bit of a short thrift in FIFA, purely because the MLS season is winding up just as FIFA is released, it’s a nice touch.
